This afternoon I decided to mix my new sets up and see what I could create. I mixed set as well as techniques and materials. It did take a while, much longer than I usually spend, creating this card.
I pre-purchased the bundle, Charming Café and have only made the one card casing the sample in the Occasional mini. I purchased it with the purpose of seeing how I can use the framelits in the bundle. Well, the CASED card is as far as I used the bundle. I decided to play with it today.
First, I embossed the stamp frame using Versa Mark and gold embossing powder and heat embossed this. Then the window was cut out with the framelit for my card front. The card base was made using the Thick White Cardstock.
Next, I stamped the Cozy Cottage stamp on an extra piece of Whisper White and colored it with the Stampin' Blends. I can not get over how easy these are to use and blend my colors. I have used other brands of alcohol markers and find these work easier. The picture was placed in the window of the card front.
I was please with the results, but looking at the front, it looked like it was missing something. The picture was a little to strong for white and gold card front. I used the pinks in the Stampin'Blends and added touches of color to the flowers in the embossed design and then the light green on the tiny leaves.
That helped, but it was still not what I wanted. I had just received the new 1/4" Organza Ribbon so I used it on the top of the card. That really gave it a finishing touch. But, now it was not balanced the way I wanted. The gold embossed greeting, from the Colorful Season set in the main catalog, completed the card.
Sounds like a lot of work and time on a card, but it totally relaxed me and I had an afternoon of creative fun while tackling the piled up laundry.
All of the materials used for this card are in the Stampin'Up Catalog and the Occasional Mini catalog. You can purchase these at my Stampin'Up online store. But, the Cozy Cottage can only be purchased with stamping hostess rewards.
Happy Stamping, Joyce
