When you take the time to make a special gift for someone, it is a gift from the heart. You may not have much tied up in supplies, but you have to consider the time. Say you work cheaply for $10 and hour. Now. you make a set of all occasion or note cards for a friend, the least amount of time that you are going to spend on a card is thirty minutes. You give them six cards with matching envelopes, you have at least a dollar a card.
That is a pretty expensive gift, 3 hours@ $10 is $30 plus $6 in materials amounts to a $36 gift. Really, it is hard to make a card plus the envelope with only one dollar in materials now days. Also, how many of us would take a job paying only ten dollars and hour, so I really estimated the lowest numbers.
I have found that the people I give a set of cards to talk about them and get excited more than they would if I picked them out a fifty dollar sweater.
Chose a couple of people that you are going to give a gift to and take the time to make them some cards to use in the future or a set of coasters to match their living room, and see how excited they get. Most adults really appreciate when you give them a gift that you have spent your time on making.

This is a set of cards using the Stampin'Up set, Half Full, that is in the Holiday Mini catalog. I made six different note cards for the set. Plus I made on tile coaster and a battery operated candle, stamped using the set, for gifts for two wine lovers on my list.
